Anna is a Gates Scholar at the University of Cambridge studying for an MPhil in Multidisciplinary Gender Studies. Her interests in law, gender, and state governance stem from her undergraduate work at the University of Michigan where she studied undocumented migration. Currently her work focuses on policy production and gendered perceptions of labor in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. She hopes to pursue a career in development after completing her studies.

Jennifer is pursuing her doctorate at the University of Cambridge as a Gates Scholar, focusing on the importance of neural activity in myelin maintenance in the central nervous system during health and disease. An aspiring physician-neuroscientist, Jennifer has previously worked at Harvard Medical School as an HHMI EXROP Scholar, the Center for Structural Biology at the University of Oxford, and the Beckman Institute at Caltech. As a human rights advocate, she volunteers with Refugee Community Kitchen and L’Auberge des Migrants to help provide food and clothing to refugees in Calais. She holds an MPhil from Cambridge in Medical Sciences and a BA in Neuroscience from Pomona College.

Originally from Trujillo, Peru, Melissa developed a career as an EFL teacher before working in the nonprofit sector. She’s led volunteering and community outreach programs in Peru, Panama, and Ecuador, focusing on cross-cultural understanding and education. She’s represented Peru in leadership development programs in the USA and Japan. Currently a Chevening scholar at UCL, her research interests include the disruption of power structures, feminist pedagogy, and social media as tools to fight against gender-based violence.

As a As an ESRC 1+3 scholar, Sabrina researched sexual exploitation in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations in collaboration with the United Nations Association UK. She has nearly nine years of university teaching experience, extensive experience in simulation design and delivery for youth conferences, university-wide modules as well as in diplomacy training for the Dutch Army. She has field work experience from her time in Cambodia, where she worked with a grassroots organisation which dealt with issues relating to child-protection from exploitation.
