Richard Williams

Richard is a second year Philosophy PhD student at Durham University. He is part of the ‘Knowledge for Use’ research project which, among other things, aims to address how we should best conceptualise evidence and deliberation within the context of public policy. His research focuses on objectivity within deliberation, and Richard is particularly interested in how perverse incentives threaten to bias democratic deliberations and to neglect important information. He found it refreshing and motivating to hear so many different ‘front-line’ perspectives at the GSS last year identifying similar problems, and is very pleased to be part of the committee this year.
